the sustainability certification program for furniture
level® has been created to deliver the most open and transparent means of evaluating and communicating the environmental and social impacts of furniture products in the built environment. It is the third-party certification program for the furniture industry’s multi-attribute, sustainability standard. View the level brochure.
Taking into account a company’s social actions, energy usage, material selection and human and ecosystem health impacts, level verifies how a product has met the ANSI/BIFMA e3 Furniture Sustainability Standard from multiple perspectives. (more)
BIFMA’s level® certification program is now included in the EPA’s Recommended Specifications, Standards and Ecolabels for federal furniture purchasing. More information.
As with the continuous improvement process in place for the standard, the level Certification Program is always improving as well but cannot do so without the active engagement of all interested parties. Credit Usage Surveys are conducted periodically to determine what impact areas have been addressed most frequently by manufacturers of certified products. Those survey results are available upon request. We welcome and encourage all recommendations and/or complaints so that we can continue to keep level a leadership program. Send any questions or concerns directly to Brad Miller of BIFMA by email at firstname.lastname@example.org or telephone at 616-285-3963.
This searchable database allows the identification of all products currently level certified and includes information pertaining to each certification.
Only products carrying the level® name have been assessed by an independent third-party auditing firm accredited by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI).
